Accountability

Blog December 21st, 2009

At what point do we actually start holding our leaders accountable?  If healthcare costs go up, can we fire them?  If the world continues to warm after we make expensive paper promises, can we make them pay our taxes?  What is the penalty for being spectacularly wrong, if such is the case?  And if there is no penalty, no accountability for wasting unprecedented sums of money as we enforced with the managers of Enron and their ilk, how can anyone seriously consider NOT opposing such policies?

If my opinions about such policy are wrong, I’m more than happy to change my ways and admit my errors.  I doubt our esteemed leadership would do the same.  We can throw CEOs in jail for abusing their power, why not politicians?
